Further information on the ambitions for the work: The marimba is an up and coming instrument that is both old and new. The way I play the marimba is quite unique and the on stage features I add are playful and entertaining. This show has a lot of entertaining value and shows musicality on the highest level with multimedia elements that make the audience look even closer and thus listen even more. There is much potential for this solo show and I would love to bring it on tour worldwide.

Lose yourself in the hypnotic world of the marimba – probably the biggest xylophone you’ve ever seen. In his new solo show Marimba Mirage – Sounds in Motion, the Swiss marimba artist Manuel Leuenberger blends rhythm, melody and movement into a mesmerising performance, featuring his own compositions, cloned friends, rolling blackouts and whirring mallets. From delicate whispers to thunderous waves, this show transforms the wooden bars of the marimba into a dynamic soundscape. With every strike, emotions resonate, creating a journey of sound, space and illusion. Prepare to hear the unexpected.

Touring Notes

The marimba is not yet available just anywhere. So in most cases, I travel by car and bring my own instrument. If possible, I can work with Marimba One (the manufacturer of my instrument) to see if I can rent a marimba on site.

Previous Touring Experience

I have been playing the Marimba for 21 years now and have been to many countries as a percussionist as well. Including China, Japan, Argentina, USA, Spain, Germany, France, Italy and many more.

Any other ways this work could be shared with presenting partners and audiences

My program can be adapted in may ways. I can play Marimba in art galleries, on ships, in museums, on stages, in churches and perfom the pieces that best fit those venues. I am known for my flexibility and adaptational skills.
